The Consortium for Service Innovation partner network is a community of organizations that share a commitment to advancing Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS) practices and helping organizations achieve better business outcomes. Our partners extend the reach of Consortium methodologies by delivering consulting, training, technology, and implementation expertise that enables customers to successfully adopt and sustain KCS.

KCS v6 Verified Tools are technology solutions with features or functions that comprehensively support KCS practices. 
Technology vendors whose solutions comprehensively support selected KCS Practices should pursue the KCS v6 Aligned Tool designation. 


KCS v6 Verified Tool Criteria

Technology solutions seeking the KCS v6 Verified Tool designation provide comprehensive capabilities that support all eight KCS Practices across the knowledge lifecycle, from capturing and finding knowledge in the flow of work to improving, reusing, and learning from it.

  • Search and Reuse Existing Knowledge - Enable users to quickly discover relevant knowledge, apply existing resolutions, and make effective use of the collective experience of the organization.
  • Improve Knowledge Through Use - Make it easy for knowledge workers to review, update, and improve knowledge as they use it, incorporating new context and experience over time.
  • Capture Knowledge in the Flow of Work - Make it easy for knowledge workers to capture new knowledge as they resolve questions and problems, without disrupting their workflow.
  • Structure Knowledge for Findability and Reuse - Provide templates, metadata, categorization, and other capabilities that help create consistent, easy-to-find knowledge that can be reused by the intended audience.
  • Maintain Knowledge Content Health - Support standards, workflows, permissions, reviews, and other controls that help organizations maintain trustworthy, current, and useful knowledge.
  • Support Integration Into People and Technology Processes - Enable organizations to make appropriate knowledge available across employee, partner, customer, self-service, and other experiences.
  • Provide Insight into Knowledge Performance - Provide visibility into knowledge quality, reuse, effectiveness, and outcomes, helping organizations understand whether their knowledge practices are creating value—not simply how much activity is taking place.

KCS Verified Tool Designation Process

Total cost of designation: $18,000 with an annual $500 renewal fee (Cost in USD, plus any applicable taxes).

Step 1: Apply to be a Verified Tool

Step 2: Verified Tool Review

  • Complete the Verified Tool Assessment worksheet. View an example worksheet here. Consortium staff will provide an Assessment Worksheet specific to your organization as part of the application process.
  • Consortium staff will schedule a time to review the worksheet and get a demonstration your solution.

Step 3: Aligned Tool Designation

Ongoing: Aligned Tool Renewal
Your Verified Tool Designation is in effect for one year from the License Agreement date. For each year that follows:

  • Complete the KCS Verified Renewal form and provide the $500 renewal fee.
  • Ensure that your Verified Tool Assessment Worksheet reflects the latest features and capabilities of your solution, and validate that it continues to comprehensively support all KCS Practices.
