Issue

English is not my primary language.  Can I take exams in my native language?

Resolution

At this time, KCS materials created by the Consortium for Service Innovation are offered in English only, including Practices Guides, Online Training Courses, Study Guides, and Exams.  One exception: most of the materials, and the KCS v6 Fundamentals Exam, are available in German.

Community members have translated some materials and share them here in the interest of reuse. As with all things KCS, judgment may be required (use at your own risk, and consider flagging or fixing if necessary).  If you are interested in translating KCS materials, please start by reviewing the Translation Kit.

KCS v6 Practices Exam

For the KCS v6 Practices Exam, there is an option to set up special accommodations if English is not your primary language. (ESL) Special accommodations are made for ESL test takers by allowing a physical dictionary and expanded time to complete the exam (3 hours instead of 2 hours).

Follow these steps well in advance of when you want to take the exam to allow for responding/processing:

  • Create a Consortium Webassessor Account
  • DO NOT register for the exam yourself
  • Email support@serviceinnovation.org the following information:
    • Webassessor Username
    • Whether you would like to take the test online or at a Kryterion Test Center
    • Prefered date and time (1st and 2nd choices as exam time slots can fill up quickly)
    • Coupon Code/Voucher you were given by your company (if applicable).
    • A photo of the physical dictionary that you will use during the exam (can not be online dictionary)

Consortium Support will register you and you will receive an email confirmation from Webassessor.  

KCS v6 Fundamentals Exam

  • The KCS v6 Fundamentals Exam is available in English and German. Please email support to inquire about the availability of a French exam.
  • At this time, additional accommodations are not available for the KCS v6 Fundamental Exam.
