Does my Trainer certification terminate if I leave my company?

Issue

I am leaving my company - does my trainer certification terminate?

KCS v6 Trainer certification indicates that a person is certified to teach the Consortium's workshop material, but does not grant access to the materials without a license agreement in place.

Resolution

If you are leaving your company, you may need to sign a new license agreement depending on how you will pay royalties for the materials.

  • Internal Trainer at new company - conducting workshops internally only:
    • New company will sign an Unlimited Use License Agreement and pay $14,000 (no additional workshop participant royalties will be due)
    • Company must submit a form every two years validating each trainer conducted two workshops in that time period
  • External Individual Trainer
    • Trainer will sign a KCS v6 External Individual Agreement and the trainer is responsible for paying royalties for each workshop participant
    • Trainer must conduct a minimum of two workshops in a two year period
  • External Corporate Trainer
    • Company will sign a KCS v6 External Corporate Agreement and the company pays royalties for each workshop participant
    • Trainer must conduct a minimum of two workshops in a two year period

More information can be found in the KCS v6 Certified Trainer Instructions

Note: you may need to participate in a recertification if it has been more than two years since a workshop was reported.
